By Laila Duran, Anne Kristin Moe and Britt Eklund, hardcover, 700 photographs, hardcover, 240 pages, in English.
"Scandinavian Folklore" is a book intended as a popular description and inspiration to everyone interested in old traditions and customs connected to the Nordic folk costumes. Picturing both old garments as well as newly made it shows that costume traditions are seldom static and often influenced by fashion and the temperament of the wearer. The photographer Laila Durán has cooperated with private collectors and museums in presenting some of the traditional costumes from Sweden, Norway and Lappland. The pictures are showing everyday life as well as festivities and are set in the shifting seasons from the arctic north to the south of Scandinavia.
Laila Durán is writing about the folk costumes of Sweden and the Sami costumes of Lappland.
Anne Kristin Moe, Norwegian Institute of Folk Costumes, is writing about the bunads of Norway.
Britt Eklund, Institute for Language and Folklore, is writing on the topic of the costume almanac in the region of Boda, Dalecarlia, Sweden.
