As a major producer of copper, iron and silver, Sweden boasts a longstanding metalworking tradition known as luffarslöjd. The Gnosjö municipality in the Swedish provine of Småland has served as a center for wire pulling since the 17th century. By the 19th century, the region was home to nearly one hundred small, water-driven wire pulling companies.
