About the authors (inset photo):

Carin Wirsen:

As I write is the mainspring of the great interest in children's early language development and concept formation.

Motto: childhood is not a replay. My ideas for books are: Delightful play on words and concepts. Rhymes, chants and tokprat. Want to encourage and acknowledge the children's play through recognition. Importance of play in order to process and consolidate. Would also give the adults something. Children are sensitive to the adults also find it funny.

Carin Wirsen born in Hudiksvall in 1943 but had long resided in Älvsjö outside Stockholm. She is married to Christian, whom she met while studying at University College of Arts, and she is the mother of illustrator and designer Anna Stina. In addition, she is both mother and grandmother to six grandchildren.

Carin trained as an art teacher, and after ten years in the profession she decided to saddle up on the math teachers and special education teacher - first in high school and after a couple years in high school. The meeting with high school students made her realize that many who struggle with reading and writing at an early age makes it all the way into the secondary school age. It was Carin to commit to children and young people's language development. During the nineties, Carin had five grandchildren in quick succession. When Carin saw on TV with them, she discovered that there was no funny material for the little ones. Together with their daughter Stina, she decided to create children's programming, which uses rhymes and games could help children's language development. Carin and Stina had lots of ideas, but the TV dreams were replaced soon out of children's books, because the format suited them better.

Soon came the first book, Ruth and Knut cooking. In it you can clearly see how the image and text interact in a unique way. The short, snappy verses is both comical and ingenious, fantastically expressive images. Ruth and Knut cooking followed by several books at a brisk pace, and today there are 10 more picture books and 13 fiction books of Ruth and Knut. Ruth and Knut are modern children, whose games can entertain even adults. Their lekkraft it is essential, and almost everything in the books takes place in the Ruth and Knut's imagination. But little sister Howl, who made his debut in Rut & Knut and small Howl is not a pretend baby sister. To emphasize that a small child is not as Ruth and Knut can take care of themselves, draw attention to the presence of adults, one foot here, a hand there. So it is with Stina's pictures, there are always new details to discover. The books of Ruth and Knut has become brilliant successes and can already be called modern classics. Carin writes and then takes Stina at the pictures. Finally, the book's graphic form of Carin's one Christian. A family project where everyone has fun together!

Carin has also written a kapitelbok and she has appeared in several anthologies. She also carries on lots of other ideas that will attract children to reading!

Stina Wirsen:

I do not remember when I started drawing, do not think I was much more than a year. On the furniture from his home's drawings in pencil and ballpoint .......... then under furniture. I slept under the bed, under the Agency, under the table and drawing. By this I do not remember much. I remember, however my ritskrubb. Mom and Dad pulled out the shelves of one of the windowless pantry were in the kitchen, put in a table top. There I sat, for the most part, after kindergarten. Drew and talked. The need and desire to draw and tell is still as strong. The feeling is the same. There is so much fun! And so important for me to hold on. Can not I be left alone for a while every day with my pencils I become angry and grumpy .......... it can certify my closest.
