Cult Design
"Dare to be square" and preferably with a smile. That is the idea behind the Cult Design and everything they do. A concept they developed through new ideas, trends and people.
The little girl had always liked to draw. But not quite like any other. Sometimes her mother wondered why the sun was square and triangular princess, but the girl could not answer. She just thought it was beautiful... Marita Lords different thinking and passion for functional design eventually became a fun and clever concept for home furnishing.
Cult Design was founded in spring 2001 by Marita Lord and Magnus Tyrén. Both have a background from Boråstapeter AB, Scandinavia's largest wallpaper manufacturer.
The Cult Design office and showroom is located in Gothenburg, in an old textile factory from the 1800s.
All designs are conceived in Sweden, while most of the production takes place in China. The design department in Gothenburg works very closely with the ceramics factory located in Guangdong Province in China. The factory is family centered and ISO Certified.
Production is a craft. Sculpting, molding, painting, glazing and firing are all done by hand for Cult Design making each product unique! Every product produced passes at least 25 pairs of hands before it is completed and reaches the final consumer.
